What's new in Plannly

Every update, in plain English.

Version 2.1

A new name, plus quicker ways to plan, cook and shop together

Spoonly is now Plannly. Same app, same data, new name.

Planning

  • Eating Out: Plan a meal out with an optional place and note. Open the place in Apple Maps, get a reminder, and mark it as done. No cooking and nothing added to your shopping list.
  • Repeat Last Week: Copy last week's meals into this week in one tap from the Calendar week view.
  • Auto-assign now also fills empty meals with recipes from your library.
  • Today button on the Plan screen to jump back to today.
  • Tap a meal reminder to open that meal.

Cooking

  • Cooking timers: Steps like “Bake for 25 minutes” get a timer automatically. It keeps counting while your phone is locked, and you get a notification when it's done.
  • Mark as done when you finish cooking, if the meal is on today's plan.

Shopping

  • Add from Plan: Pick dates and add the ingredients of every planned meal to your shopping list, scaled to each meal's servings.
  • Smarter shopping list: Ingredients are sorted into aisles. The same ingredient from two recipes is combined (“100g + 50g” becomes “150g”).

Family

  • “Who's cooking?” button when a meal has no cook yet.
  • Unassign a cook by tapping them again.
  • Remove a family or member photo.

Recipes and app

  • Duplicate import warning: If you import a link you already saved, Plannly offers to open the saved recipe instead.
  • Restore built-in recipes from Settings.
  • “Discard changes?” prompt when you close a recipe you've edited.
  • What's New is now available in Settings.
Improved and fixed
  • Updating is safer. Older saved recipes, family members and plans always load, and your own edits to built-in recipes are kept.
  • Plan screen: the day strip is smoother and always lands on the right day, the date updates overnight, and meals are listed in order from breakfast to dessert.
  • What's New no longer appears on top of onboarding for new users.
  • Servings are kept when you edit or copy meals.
  • Weeks start on your region's first day of the week.
  • Recipe import works with more sites, reads servings better and fixes symbols like “&”.
  • Edit Recipe saves only when you tap the check mark.
  • Empty recipe fields stay empty instead of getting a fake “30 min” or a placeholder step.
  • The shopping list no longer shows the “Week of…” label.
  • “Rate Plannly” opens the App Store review page.
  • New family members get different colours.
  • Spanish now covers more of the app, and dates follow your language.
  • Camera permission removed, since the app never used it.
Version 2.0

A fresh look and easier ways to share the cooking with your family

Highlights

  • Assign who cooks: Give each meal to a family member and see who's prepping what at a glance.
  • Import recipes from a link: Paste a URL and the app fills in the photo, ingredients and timings.
  • Smarter shopping list: Add ingredients straight from a recipe, grouped by dish, with an “In cart” section.
  • Copy days and weeks: Copy any day to today, or a whole week forward.
  • A fresh look: The design was refreshed across the app.
Under the hood
  • Servings per meal. Each planned meal has its own servings, set to 4 for meals saved by older versions.
  • Richer recipe steps. Steps can carry a timer, and older plain-text steps still load.
  • Shopping units and aisles. Items have a unit (pcs, g, ml, pack, bunch) and an aisle.
